Gin and tonic

Sid was my friend and neighbour. I got to know Sid more after Ann passed away, I used to try and make sure he was coping. After a while Sid would ask if I would like a drink with him. He made the best coffee in the morning. In the afternoon Sid mixed a very good G & T ( I have Sid to thank for the pleasure of tasting Tanqueray No. Ten ! )  Anyway, one day mixing the drink he discovered NO lemons ! I said its fine Sid as long as there is ice. On the next occasion for an afternoon tipple...lemon but NO ice ! I said its fine Sid, the tonic is cold... A week or so later he rang and asked if I would like to join him for a drink, ‘ that would be lovely Sid ‘ I said,  ‘ I’ll see you later.’   I thought I would  arrive prepared, you know what I mean !  A bag of ice in one pocket and a lemon in the other I turned up... I need not have bothered, Sid had all the ingredients for the perfect G & T, just like he had all the ingredients to be the perfect gentleman... such a fortunate family can call Sid their own. We had such a laugh, I will miss him like no other. Rest in peace my dear friend, with your beloved Ann xxx
